I purchased this soy maker March 22nd 2022 and have been using it at least once and sometimes twice a week since. This week I realized I've long passed the point of it having paid for itself, and that is with calculating in the organic non-GMO soybeans I also buy on amazon.I really enjoy using this. I start out with a half cup of soybeans that I put in a glass jar and fill that to the top with boiling water, I let it sit in my microwave for a couple of hours but even overnight with a towel over it. The soaking in boiling water helps to reduce the beany taste you can get with fresh made soy milk. After the beans have soaked drain the water, rinse them and pop them in a machine with water up to the water level on the machine. Hit the button and 1/2 hour later I have delicious homemade soy milk. I also will prep the beans the same way but after rinsing them put them in fresh water and just pop them in the back of my refrigerator so that they're ready for the next time that I want to use them. They could last for weeks like that since I keep them in the coldest part of the fridge. I prefer making soy milk from soaked beans and not dry beans, personal preference on taste.I like that I don't have to lug cartons of soy milk home anymore, I can have fresh soy milk in a 1/2 hour no matter the time of day so there's never a recipe I can't make the day that I want to. I've seen reviews saying this is hard to clean but I do not find that to be the case at all. When the soy milk is done I pull the top of it off and run the bottom half under warm water and scrubbing it with a brush, it's clean in just seconds. The inside stainless steel cleans very easily.I don't typically bother letting the milk cool down much, I use a 4 quart measuring cup, a sieve and a milk bag. I pour the hot soy milk into the sieve that is over the 4 quart measuring cup, this collects the majority of the beans. I use a spoon to press out any remaking liquid from the ground up beans. I pour the milk back into the stainless steel carafe and put the milk bag in the measuring cup and pour the milk back through the bag, lift it up and out it'll start to drain on its own as it drains it will cool and then it's a quick twist or two to get the last of the liquid out. Done. At this point cleanup is just a quick wipe and rinse of everything.Soy milk is my preferred non-dairy milk for cooking and baking. I can get away with easy to blend up oat or almond milk for day to day use but neither of those work well in recipes.Worth the cost, I'd recommend. Also I saw someone mention that the top of it looked worn, it's not, that is the protective film covering the buttons, just peel that film off.
