I’ve had the real deal from Korean bakery and this comes really close. I do not regret it it’s a little costly though and you can find it cheaper elsewhere in stores but I do not regret it because it was good quality.I was pleasantly surprised. Let me start off with saying I’ve never had hotteok from Korea. As an ARMY, during the winter one of the guys inevitably talks about hotteok and I’ve been dying to try it. I thought it was going to be hard to make (I do not do well with dough). It was super easy, super quick and super delicious. It also came with EVERYTHING, even the filling. You need water, a bowl and oil for cooking. It may be pricey, but we don’t have Korean shops in Indiana. So to me, the convenience was worth it.Received this today and I'm really disappointed. Pricey item to come in a completely different packaging and said packaging was so beaten up it looked like it could be several years old. The expiration date is within range, but I'm hesitant to even try using it. I'll probably just end up throwing it in the trash. What a let down. How in heavens name are prople without a knowledge of written Korean supposed to process and cook this product (I was so looking forward to tasting). What a terrible disapointment - and no avenue of redress - come on Amazon. . . . NOT FAIR !The first time I bought Hotteok ready make because I was craving it so much. Surprisingly very easy to make and tastes very good. You don’t have to do anything and just have to follow instructions. The brown sugar mix goes in the dough and it melts when you cook it, so you don’t have to mix it with water. This is now one of my favorite snacks. So simple to make and fast. I can't compare it to the authentic Korean street food because I've never had those. But this packaged version is great. It's crunchchewy and just sweet enough.I will definitely be buying lots more for sure. I don't know what the value is but just under $10 doesn't seem out of line for 8 pieces.Tip: Don't forget to oil your hands before kneading or you'll have a sticky mess. The recipe is easy to follow and the pancake is delicious. The only down side is the dough was much sticky than I thought and required more than 5 mins of kneading.Perfect snack and isn’t overly sweet.
