I've been anjoying the Chef'sChoice Belgian Waffle Maker for over ten years, until the nonstick coating on the plates finally wore out and the waffles became impossible to release. It's a great little waffle maker. Choice of crisp exterior/soft interior or crisp all the way through. Quick to warm up, cooks evenly. Tried to replace it with an Oster waffle maker of similar size, but the results were just not comparable. I managed to purchase this one last edition of the Chef'sChoice as they've been discontinued by the manufacturer, and once the inventory is gone, that's it. Sad to see them go, and I'll be carefully maintaing this one for as long as I can.I'm still not sure I will keep it. Not a bad machine but doesn't perform any better than my old Cuisinart which lasted over six years and cost less than half the price of the Chefs Choice.I've made two batches of waffles, the first with the basic batter recipe from Chefs Choice and the second using the recipe from the Cuisinart. The differences in the recipes: CC vs Cuisinart... 1/4c butter vs 6 Tbs veg oil. 1 1/4 to 1 1/2c milk vs 1 3/4c, 3Tbs sugar vs 2Tbs.Never did get a good waffle from the CC recipe, Made six experimented with both "crisp" and "uniform" bake and several temp settings. All six waffles were undercooked (gummy) inside and none were crisp outside. Very disappointed with results which were inedible. May try it again to see if iron "break-in usage made a difference in performanceSecond batch using Cuisinart recipe were better and I think with further experimenting I may get the waffle I'm looking for. I made one waffle using uniform bake at temp 3.5. I did get a uniform waffle - it was uniformly dry inside and out and took almost 4 minutes to bake. It was at least edible with butter and syrup. I made a second waffle using crisp bake and a temp of a bit more than 4. That produce a decent waffle. It could have been a bit crisper on the outside but the inside was done just about right. Out of respect for my blood sugar level I will wait another day to continue my search for the best settings/batter combo.PROsNon stick works greatNo overflow using 1/2 c batterFast bake and recovery time on crisp settingCONsUneven heating of grill plates - rear right quadrant temp, measured with IR thermometer, runs about 35' F lower than all other quads which heat to 370 +/- 5 degrees F. Results in that part of waffle being noticeably lighter than the rest.Cord storage...have yet to figure out how to store cordLong cook time on uniformOur wedding gift waffle baker finally gave up after 49 years of use. We have tried other replacements with much dissatisfaction until we tried this one. We have used it six times since it arrived and so far it lives up well to the description on Amazon. We love it. It was easy to master (one test waffle) and it was set for use. It is simple and easy to use and works as well as our original did until it gave up months ago. We are looking forward to this one lasting another 49 years...This product is full of settings to make your waffles however you choose, yet is extremely user friendly, and extremely easy to clean up.I bought this as a gift for my mother for her birthday and she absolutely loves it. She's never had any type of waffle maker before and was amazed at how easy it was to begin using. The consistency is another thing that puts this product in the 5 star category. Once you find how you like your waffles cooked, the settings on this will create the same style waffles again and again. Set it and forget it!! Well don't forget it, but enjoy those delicious waffles when the timer alerts you that they're ready to eat.Got this as a Mother's Day present for my waffle-loving wife. The waffle-maker we got for a wedding present was finally wearing out. This one's great: more consistent, the timer's quite right, and there are more options. Works well, cleans up easily, makes the right waffle every time. Only complaint is that we like our waffles thicker, and there's no option for that. I suppose we'll get used to it, but for now, I miss that.have not tried another Waffle maker but so far the experience has been good. I like the fact that its easy to store and once the iron is warm the waffles are ready in a couple of minutes. The quality of the waffles is good as well. The only small problem is that waffles are not as thick as i wanted them to be. All in all I think it's a great product.I bought a waffle mix from the store, and it is so easy to use, my kids want me to make some all the time.. it cleans up so easy, and with the settings you can get the desired color and crispness or moist centers. it lets you know when it is warmed up, and when the waffle is done. it is easy to get out of the maker also.. I would definitely recommend it to my friends. and I have tried three others... this one wins hands down! This is a great waffle iron that cleans up easily. It can be tough, however, to find just the right cooking setting.
