This holster combines elements several styles of holsters to try an create a flexible system that can be worn inside amd outside the waistband or as a traditional through the belt holster. There's a molded plastic holster with adjustable retention pressure, a la Fobus, plastic hooks designed to grab under a belt, and plastic snap-on belt loops, all of which are mounted on a soft leather backing. Pistol retention is good, but I'm not happy with the holster comfort when it's worn inside the waistband, and when worn on the belt, it's bulky and move around too much. The problem for me is that the I find metal studs inside the holster irritating, and the leather backing is too rough on the inside for comfort, and at the same time, too soft to stabilize the plastic parts when worn outside. It's certainly a well made, high quality holster- but it just doesn't work for me. I think this holster is trying to be a solution for a problem that doesn't exist. There are plenty of good holsters (including several from Blackhawk) that work well when worn in one position. If you really think you need a holster than can be worn three different ways, you might want to check this holster out, but I think most of us are well served by single purpose holsters.I already had one of these holsters but ordered this one for a gift. My original one has much more leather than this one and is much more comfortable. The slide corners are sharp and poke me in the side. The additional leather on my original holster prevents thisThis is NOT any fault of the seller, the transaction was flawless and I received what I purchased. I will look today to see if the two holsters are a different part number which would explain the difference. I will update later on my findingsThis is the first in-band holster I've used, so it was a bit different to get used to. I've hiked with it a couple times and it hasn't been uncomfortable or in the way at all. I also haven't had to use it quickly, so I'm not sure how quick on the draw I'd be, but I did find myself practicing with it a bit in the field, just to be sure I was able to grab it and put it away easily. Most comfortable Holster I've worn in a long time...Bought for a smith and wesson shield. Recieved a XDS instead.I am a long time user of Blackhawk products. The tuckable holsters have become increasingly popular with the never ending quest to find comfort in concealed carry. This holster meets the comfort requirement. I have other brands of tuckable holsters and this one is as comfortable as any on the market.I won't go into the argument about if this is a better choice over outside the waist compared to inside waist band. Just know that each have their good points and bad points. I'll keep the focus on this unit.Finding the best position and placement of this type of holster can take time. The good thing on this design, it allows you to adjust the cant, the passive retention and more. The manual offers a lot of good information, however, the lawyer warning talk is a bit over the top and makes finding what you are looking for difficult. The passive retention works well. It holds the pistol firmly yet not so firm that you are fighting it to draw. It holster comes with an Allen wrench for adjusting the retention. Some of the other brands I have make noise. They make a creak noise when I move around. Not the Blackhawk. The Blackhawk is all stealth! No noise what so ever. The reason for four stars, it is the area between where the pistol sets when holstered. I believe there needs to be some type of support other than just the soft leather. Over time wearing the holster the leather begins to push into the gun area. This changes the retention over time. I don't understand why they don't have something across this area to avoid this happening. Other than this, I like everything else about the Blackhawk leather tuckable pancake holster. One last feature I have not tried is the Pancake wear. This is outside the waistband using a belt through the leather part of the holster backing. If I am wearing outside the waistband I use a holster designed for this function.
