Have a full size Technovorm Moccamaster but made too much coffee at one time. When I was offered this one cup on Prime Day for a great price, I scooped it up although i had been concerned about the complaints that indicated it often got plugged up with grinds. It makes great coffee but I discovered that it does in fact get clogged up often. Upon investigating, I found that it most often happened when I folded the paper filters along the ridges before inserting them in the basket. When the paper filter is folded, the ridges where it is embossed tend to create small holes through which grinds can leak. Since I stopped folding the paper filters, I've not had a clog.UPDATE: 2 months after my original impressions, I've gotten into the groove of using it and how to get the most out of it. I've concluded that setting-and-forgetting this machine sufficiently renders great coffee without altering anything out of standard coffee making procedure. The damp coffee grounds left after brewing do indeed still form a cone-pyramid shape, but I haven't noticed hardly any difference from when I stir the grounds during brewing 2-3 times vs. not touching it at all. This bumps the machine from 4 to 5 stars. This is the best single serve machine on the market. Now read my review below and keep in mind what I just mentioned.I'm going to be rather critical of this machine since I spent a pretty penny on it. But if this gets 4 stars, 99% of other auto-drip brewers probably get 1-2 stars. This machine is fantastic. I've put about 15 cycles through it, and the ones where I measured temp, they all came out to ~198-200F, and all went thru the brew process of 300g/10oz water (medium fine grind) in about 5 mins total, from flipping the switch to the last drip, 5:30 at the longest. So it does what it says it's supposed to, which is great.A few design features confuse me. The lid that sits atop the reservoir and drip cone sits a little precariously (it wants to tip if you touch the cone side). This is minor, but I feel like maybe a hinged joint on the reservoir side and the cone side would be more robust. Additionally, the drip spout is a simple U-shaped tube (longer on one side). I wonder why Technivorm didn't follow the design of the other higher volume brewer models and design a shower-head design instead of just a dripper that drops water right into one spot the whole brew process instead of the even showering you see in bigger models. I don't think this would necessarily lead to better flavor, but from what I know about pour-over coffee, a more even wetting of grounds is always better. The grounds do seem to all get wet, but once dry, they form an inverted cone/canyon once the brewing is done. I stir the grounds/water after about 30 seconds to hopefully combat this possibly negative effect. I'm too fiddly to resist, but the coffee tastes great either way. The reason I included this tidbit is that if you pay this much for a brewer that is supposed to be mostly autonomous, there should have to be minimal interference for good coffee. This is probably why I'm putting 4 stars instead of 5. If someone provides me with enough compelling evidence that this doesn't matter, I'll change it to 5.The coffee is excellent. Without the cup preheated, and waiting about a minute after brewing ends, the coffee is at the perfect temp for drinking. The mug is nice as well, and the filters seem to be flavorless/neutral.This sits in my office and gets to brew 2 * 10oz cups for me daily (Onyx Geometry, Colombia/Ethiopia blend is great through this). If you only plan to brew for yourself, this machine is perfect, because if I brewed 2 cups a day through a machine with a thermal carafe or burner, that 2nd cup would be stale/lukewarm 6 hours later, I almost guarantee it (even the good Zojirushi carafes/warmers cool off after about 4-5 hours). So it's a quick, fresh cup on demand. DO NOT buy this if you plan to brew for multiple people or an office. Grab one of the bigger volume models. What does in to being part of the family? Where do we meet for Thanksgiving? Does ANYTHING go in to being part of the family? Name one thing.Corny. Coffee wise, I’ve had two cups. My cup-one (not one cup, but cup one, isn’t that cool? Like when they started naming Teams with the word Team first?) makes delicious coffee. I had it ground by my local coffee shop, but I may by one of the MM grinders as well.Coffee is a morning must for me (I don’t care about eh caffeine, just the flavor), and this is like the kind of coffee you get at a really nice restaurant with dessert.Easy (nearly fun) set up, if you like coffee and you’re coming from a K cup up, I recommend the Cup One. A really exciting purchase. Welcome to the family.Simple, good flavor extractionand very easy to use. You can make a larger cup by filling it above the white line. Happy with my purchase.Bottom line first... just buy it, you wont be disappointed!I have been making coffee one cup at a time for years using a steam espresso maker, resulting in VERY strong coffee. It was time for something a little more refined and I didnt want to use those stupid pods.I looked for a while and found some single cup brewers (none I liked) most talked bout the features of the maker and not the quality of the coffee.Im not a super taster and statements like "nutty tones of oak" are lost on me and always have been, I simply want to make one cup of very good tasting coffee... period, without a lot of hassle, nope Im not EVER weighing grams for my morning coffee. That being said I did the first cup, to see what 20 grams looks like in the supplied scoop and it was 2 slightly domed scoops and thats close enough for me.I usually switch between Sumatra and San Francisco french roast (costco) and my morning coffee is really great with this brewer.I did a little research on tecnivorm and for them its about the coffee, they have been at it for decades, they stand solidly behind their product (so much so it has a 5 year warranty), you can get replacement parts or send it in for service.Im not looking to be a home barista, I just want a really tasty single cup of coffee made in a maker I can count on to last many years and if it ever does break I can get fixed and not just toss it in the trash. I can feel good about not filling trash cans with those stupid little pods, and lastly I get a very good cup of morning coffee made in 4 min without any hassle.I highly recommend this little maker, and wouldn't hesitate to buy another except since its repairable Ill never have to.The coffee machine is very good! Makes very consistent coffee. One thing I find is that since its only pouring water from the top middle, its better if you stir it around while pouring, this allows more flavour to come out from the coffee beans. All other colours are gone from Canada so I bought the silver. Which surprising is way more stain proof than I could imagine! don't hesitate for finger prints or what not, it will not happen.Flaws:The metal tube is VERY hot, make sure you leave it for a bit before moving it around. Wish that the lid is on a swivel or something. Its quite useless if you put the lid back on while its brewing, then you will have to open it again to remove the coffee grind holder. Or this can be addressed if the coffee grind holder can be removed without removing the lid.Nothing I don’t like. This machine is equal to the full size version. We’ve had the full size version for years, but my wife is often away, and I’m tired of having sub par coffee. This machine was worth every cent. The only disappointment was not buying it sooner.Nothing touches the Technivorm. This thing makes an excellent, consistent cup of coffee. All you have to do is bring it the right beans and it does the rest. It's a perfect solution for people who want the freshest, hottest cup of coffee every time, not that lukewarm second cup that you get with a big carafe. The only downside is the filter sometimes gets jammed, so you need to make sure it's clear before you brew.I got this for my office as I have a full-size Moccamaster at home. The quality and taste of the coffee made with the Cup One is just as good as the regular sized machine. It consistently brews a cup in just over four minutes. I have had multiple other one cup machines that use pods or discs and none can produce coffee to the caliber of the Cup One.This coffer maker does make good coffee, however for the amount of money I spent on it the cone keeps plugging up and I have to dump out my coffee almost evertime. The little tiny brush that came with the machine for cleaning only lasted about a month.i rinse out the cone after every use and before I use it to be sure I have flow but it still plugs up I didn't keep my box but you can bet I'll never order from this company again. Poor product should have gotten more for the amount I paid. Very very unhappy
