I should have read into this a little more before purchasing. First off I've had it for about 2 months now and it works great. I enjoy the fresh grounded coffee smells and taste delicious. The part that really gets me is all the adjustments on here for how many cups to make are all phantom adjustments. It all depends on the amount of water you pour and amount of beans in the tray. The machine will always ground enough for a full pot. The digital adjustment doesn't matter for the water either. If you set 4 cups and pour 8cups of water you're getting 8cups of coffee. I have learned to make those adjustments manually but for me, it was a big disappointment. For the price its a good purchase. If you are always going to make a full pot then this is a great coffee maker.I was looking for a coffeemaker for my office so I'm not forced to use the Keurig. I wanted a machine with a burr grinder and a timer. This Gevi is what I decided on and if you're looking for similar qualities I recommend this machine. So, first let me say that when you get your settings dialed in this makes the best cup of coffee I've ever had from a drip machine. There are lots of settings to play with so finding your ideal cup can take some time. Here is what I use:- no paper filter (this affected the flavor a lot, surprisingly. The basket's mesh is tight enough that you don't need a separate filter).- medium brew strength- grind setting on second largest bean image (there are lots of detents, so not the second notch on the wheel but the second-largest bean image)- same amount of water as the number for the amount of coffee ground- light-medium roast beansWith all that said, there are some minor issues that keep it from being a 5* product.- grinder is very loud. Definitely noticeable from 2 offices down from mine. And it grinds for longer than you might expect- the mechanism that lets the grounds fall into the brew basket is a bit inaccurate and you'll get some grounds scattered around the machine. Not a lot but it's noticeable.- The bean hopper is right above the brew basket, and you don't want steam from the hot grounds clogging up the grinder. After brewing, I push the button to open the brew basket nook and leave it ajar. Perfectly normal for machines in this range, you have to spend more to get a more separated bean hopper.- No insulated carafe. Again, with all the other features of this machine it's understandable.- Figuring out how to set the timer can be a bit tricky. Don't press the On / Off button during this process or you'll start a pot. Hold down the Program button to set the desired time to brew and press it again to turn on the timer.I would definitely buy this machine again, the drawbacks are, for me, very minor.I bought two of these coffee maker, all have the same problem, I believe it's a design defect. If you move the coffee maker with the coffee beans in the jar, it seems the beans stuck to the grinder, the grinder stops working, you have to put the coffee maker upside down and slam the machine heavily, and then it backs to work, it happened multiple time in my both coffee makers. The Gevi is a fantastic machine, it is easy to use, clean, and the flavor is on point. After purchasing grinders that are more than double the price and have multiple operational and technical issues (Breville and Cuisinart), this machine is a welcome addition to the kitchen. The bean bin is smaller than competitor machines, but that is the only difference. Highly recommend. My wife once stopped at every Starbucks she ever passed, but after buying this machine (especially paired with a Vietnamese coffee been also available on Amazon), she says she isn't even tempted to stop at the over priced coffee shops anymore. This machine has some quirks, but is the best coffee you can make at home.I've been using grind-and-brew coffeemaker's for many years now and this so far is leaps and bounds better than the last one I was using. There are sever big plusses for this machine: 1) It's a burr grinder which produces much more consistent grounds than a blade grinder. 2) The grinder sits directly above the filter, so there are no sideways chutes to clean out like my previous machine had. 3) It uses #4 Cone filters which I have always found to produce a stronger more flavorful coffee than the big round flat-bottomed filters. This coffeemaker makes much stronger and more flavorful coffee than my previous coffeemaker did, even using less beans. As much as I like this coffee maker, it is not without it's faults, although for me they are not deal-breakers.Because the grinder sits over the filter, the machine it taller than many other, and doesn't fit underneath my overhead cupboard like previous machines did. Fortunately my counter is deep enough that I can still place it on my kitchen counter and keep coffee beans and filters behind it.The water reservoir is rather narrow and spans the back of the machine so it can be a bit difficult to fill. I've found it easiest to use a large water pitcher and fill the tank using the guidelines on the side of the appliance. The instructions say to add fresh beans to the hopper and clean it out after every use, which defeats the putpose of having a programmable machine that will automatically start, grind beans and brew coffee in the morning. I leave a full hopper of beans in the machine overnight every night and have not had any problems.I have only had this coffee maker for a month now, so I don't know how long-lasting it will be, but so far it has been excellent and I would highly recommend it.
