The company responded right away when I wrote about the fan not working. I sent it back and was reimbursed immediately.This dehydrator was well packaged. Some damage to the outer carton but none to the dehydrator and came promptly.Due to the size of this dehydrator, you will probably put it into some sort of storage area and put it on your countertop when you want to use it. The box is pretty light and has a handle on top to help move it from place to place.I have dehydrated a few things in this and it works very well. The controls are intuitive and easy to use. Completely adjustable time and temperature. Temperature adjustments can be in fahrenheit or celsius by pressing and holding the temperature button.This unit is pretty quiet, quieter than a microwave or refrigerator.the entire unit is made of stainless steel, except for the control panel, which is very good.The 10 mesh trays, also stainless steel, are of a fine mesh such that all but fine ground spices won't fall through. I would recommend getting silicone mesh screens to place on the steel shelves because it keeps items from sticking to the metal screens of the trays.The fan in the back does a great job of drying all produce inside as it circulates the heat evenly across the trays and dries evenly, even if you only have one or all 10 trays full.The main box is made of 100% stainless steel is a bit of a thin gauge, but there is probably no good reason to make it heavier and doesn't influence it's ability to dry produce or influence it's energy efficiency. After all, the circulation fan sucking air in from the back to blow over produce and exit the front, helping to evenly dry produce, would negate the purpose of any insulation of the box.This product is at a good price point, you can pay more but won't find a better product for the intended purpose. There is one function that would be nice. If it had a "keep warm" function so if drying while away, the items wouldn't re-hydrate while left alone a few hours. This is easy to work around however by setting a short time and low temperature for a bit before bagging up produce that may have re-absorbed some moisture while sitting after turning off.Very satisfied with this dehydrator's design and manufactureI just love this Stainless Steel Food Dehydrator! I have a large garden and it comes is so handy, do easy to use and it even comes with a cookbook with ideas and all the temps you need to know for dehydrating everything that you can think of.One of the mail reasons why I bought it is to make jerky for my rather two large Rottweiler's. One of my rotties got cancer and I swear it was from the treats we gave her that was all processed and not real food treats. If you go to the pet store to get all natural jerky for your dogs it is $14 give or take for 8 oz. that is $7 a pound. So I go to the grocery store and get chicken well now a days on a good day for $1.99 lb and I also will go to the meat market and get a pork loin for the same price as chicken. I slice it up add low sodium soy sauce with a little onion powder & garlic powder and liquid smoke let it soak at room temp for a couple of hours stirring ever 30 mins to get an even soak and take the trays out spray them with some pam non stick spray put them in the dehydrator at 149 temp for 2 1/2 - 3 hours you have the most natural jerky for your dogs and my cat also goes nuts over it I just cut into tiny pieces for her but she would rather have that than can food.First off this should not be labeled as commercial product. It is a cheap sheet metal product. I had to do repairs in it before Ben using it once. The fan was bent and it didn’t turn, shelves were bent had to bed back into shape. Door closer had to be bent backInto shape so it wouldn’t fall off. ToTop it off it was not new! The box it came in said it was its second life. But once I fixed all of its issue it has been doing a good job at drying fruits, veggies, meats and herbs.I have purchased thousands and thousands worth of products from Amazon. This one takes the cake for a first time return situation. The manual is barely intelligible. Whoever wrote it needs more time learning English. The device is flimsy and dangerously allowed itself to heat with the fan motor dead. It’s pure junk, and I am stuck with a product, miles from home in Canada with the box it came in now in the trash. Let’s see what the outside vendor will do with this complaint because all I want is my money back. BTW, I am a fire litigator and the fact this thing will heat up without the cooling fan working is a design flaw and a catastrophe waiting to happen. Please learn from this experience.Had some issues from the get go but very happy with the customer service!! Just a note for 1st timers. If the fan doesn't turn right away when you turn it on... Shut it off asap!! Unscrew the back and see if the fan can turn. Sometimes the fan blades get bent during travel. I learned that the hard way and blew the fan motor. Thankfully my husband found another motor and fixed it within a couple of days!! The dehydrator itself is awesome!! Absolutely love it and highly recommend.
