The new icemaker worked great but KEEP your old unit. The replacement came with no mounting bracket, electrical connections, or instructions. You will need those from the old unit, plus the mounting screws. For my fridge, a tab needed to be removed so that the water supply tube could pour into the little catch basin. To disconnect the electrical connections, pull up on the little tab to get it over the catch. You can't always see that in a narrow space. After replacing the old unit with the new, the original problem persisted - water was pouring out of the back and icing up the back of the freezer. It turned out that the supply tube had been pushed back into the mount, and did not extend all the way into the ice maker catch basin, so some of it ran into the back of the freezer. After I pulled it out about 5/8 inch (I used a large tap to snag it and pull it out), it extended into the middle of the catch basin and it worked perfectly afterward. Although it turned out that I didn't really need a new one, the old one was pretty gross anyway (13 years old). My only complaint was that the electrical connections and instructions were not included.I purchased this item from North America HVAC in January 2018. It was described as a KitchenAid Replacement Refrigerator / Freezer Ice Maker 4317943. What I received was a Supco RIM900. It didn't include the wiring harness as shown in the picture. And it didn't have the hole for the water spout. I had to cut that out with a razor knife. I installed it and is is working fine. I just thought I was getting OEM. If I wanted a Supco RIM900, I could have bought it for less.October 2018 addition to review: Last week the ice maker just froze up and stopped making ice. I melted it out with a hair dryer and by the next morning it was making ice again. Don't yet understand what what caused the problem, or if it will reoccur. I sent a message to North America HVAC and asked if there was any guarantee on the product. The following was their reply:Hello,Thank you for the message. We have a 30 day return policy so we cannot accept your return at this time, I apologize. We also offer no warranties with any of our products. Our suppliers will honor warranties only when parts are installed by a Licensed HVAC/Appliance Technicians employed by a reputable HVAC/Appliance Contractor. Great pricing is one of the advantages of online purchasing, that’s most like why you’re here. The same parts purchased through a HVAC/Appliance Contractor cost as much as three or four times what you can find online. Those higher HVAC/Appliance Contractor part prices have the warranties built into them. When you purchase the part online for a fraction of the cost and when a qualified HVAC/Appliance Tech is not installing the part then the warranty options are simply not available. We are sorry for the inconvenience. If you need help purchasing a new part, please let us know.My 17 year old 42 inch KitchenAid Superba built-in in refrigerator freezer had its ice maker stop working. After reviewing the manual's troubleshooting, and how-to videos on replacement of the ice maker, I decided to buy this one an take a shot before incurring what would have likely been a $200+ repair cost. I reviewed the instructions and the process for replacement. Installation was a breeze. All I needed was a screwdriver with nut driver attachments as well, and a utility knife to cut out a tab that was necessary for my particular install (this unit works on a variety of refrigerator - freezer models and brands). Just make sure you thaw your freezer before replacing because sometimes (and as was the case with me), the old broken ice maker had caused the water in the feeder line to freeze at the very end due to it not working.Oh, and keep in mind this thing does not start working right away. Some people report 24 hours before it starts. In my case, it started after about 4 hours, and seemed to produce ice slowly for the first 24 hours before going back to normal production.UPDATE: Please note that this item failed in February, 2020. While the it exceeded it's warranty, the last one lasted 17 years.Fit perfect, works great. This was compatible with a KitchenAid KSBP25FKSS02. A word of advice: DON'T throw away your old icemaker you'll need it for spare parts. Mine came with a broken plastic shoot. I had to disassemble the entire unit to dislodge several broken off plastic parts so I can do part swap. Also beware that the fill cup came with a U tab that you need to cut out; otherwise the water tube won't fit nicely. Lots of inconveniences. With some work I got this to function. For the price I expected an easy swap. There are less expensive compatibles I'll try my luck at next time I need an icemaker.NOTE: This is NOT made by Whirlpool. However, it looks and fits exactly the same. Other than the name you would not know the difference. Works great and easy to install. The part was delivered very fast. (2 days). It fit very good and I had no problem installing it.The quality was not as good as the one I was replacing. The old one was cast metal this one was all plastic. The part is working very good.I needed to replace the original ice maker because water was leaking from the bottom into the ice bind. The replacement fit perfectly and was very easy to install. I found the bar that automatically shuts off the ice maker when the bind is full to be too short and allowed ice to overflow the bind. I replaced it with the bar from the original ice maker and now it works perfectly.
