I always use filtered water in my Opal (v. 1) machines (yes, plural) but wanted to add an additional layer of filtration so I purchased these filters. I started to get error messages after replacing the filter, so I pulled out my back up Opal (so I could clean my first machine) and inserted a new filter into it and proceeded to get the same error messages. Clearly the issue is the filter. Removed the filter and everything is working fine.UPDATE: Originally I gave Waterdrop a 2 star review. They reached out to me and offered to replace the filters. I told them I didn't want to risk trying them again. They then reached out again and offered to refund my purchase as well as pitching in a little monetary compensation for the hassle of cleaning out my machines. Very pleased with this level of customer service. If I need a filter for something less finnicky than my Opal I'd definitely consider doing business with them again. It worked great until 2 days before my return window expired on 8/11/22. I experienced performance issues with my GE Opal 2.0. The water added to the reservoir is filtered by a 5 stage RO filter system. This filter was intended to add a layer of protection for the recirculating water in the system. After about three weeks, the Opal 2.0 add water light kept coming on. I used the manual and app to troubleshoot. When removed, the ice machine worked fine. I changed to a new filter thinking it was the end of life for it and went to bed. I decided to return because filters are advertised to last 3 months not 3 weeks. I believed the other filters will eventually lead to the same issue.Update...On 8/16/22, WaterdropDirect reached out to me. They arranged a new overnight shipment of 3 ice maker filters +1 pitcher+ 3 replacement filters for the pitcher to compensate. I agreed to accept the offer. They contacted me again on 8/19 to ask if I had received the items and how I felt about them. On 8/22, I let them know that I had received the pitcher w/filter. Great for my bedroom, I can fill it with water and have filtered water upstairs anytime I like for me and my dog. I had not put their Opal filter into the ice maker, currently there is a GE Profile branded filter in there that I bought the next day. It is rated as a 3 month filter as well, so I will have to wait until that one needs replacing. So far the GE branded filter has made it past the 3 week mark. I will put a Waterdrop filter in and see how long that lasts after the GE Profile filter is depleted. I promised I would update them when I do. I increased the stars to 3 based on them reaching out to me and trying to make things right with me as a customer. Since my water that I add to the reservoir is filtered by a 5 stage RO filter system I probably will not be buying anymore filters. I did look at the reviews that came in between my review 8/11/22 and today (9/7/22), you make your own judgement from there.Instructions could be a little better. There was only a picture and some questions and answers. The space in insert the filter is a tight squeeze. You have to prime the pump to get it to start pulling water through it. It did not say anything in the instructions but it seems it would work better from the start if you soak or fill it with water before installing. The filters are easy to install and remove. The water still taste great, however I noticed they do leave a residue on the walls of my icemaker. I used it for about a month, took it out and currently I’m using it without the filter. I do use filtered refrigerator water in the icemaker. The product is priced reasonably; thanks for not gouging customers the OEMs do.It worked great until I experienced performance issues with my GE Opal 2.0. The water added to the reservoir was filtered by a whole home filter (no sediment). This filter was intended to add a layer of protection for the recirculating water in the system. After about three days, the Opal 2.0 started calling for more water (add water). Troubleshooting with OEM tech support, it was concluded that the filter was causing a suction problem. When removed, the ice machine worked fine. When added, the same story was to be told; all two replacements worked for a short time and eventually led to the same issue.I was outside my return window and posted the above to the Amazon comments. Waterdrop customer service reached out to me directly, offered additional support, and made good on their commitment to stand behind the product.*******06/15/22 UPDATE *********I do not fault Waterdrop for the product failure, and I determined that the Opal 2.0 was a very “needy” machine that required a lot of attention and care to function at a basic level. I have returned the device and will pursue competitive products in this category. Thanks
