Expensive labels, I can deal with that. The print quality is awful, in order to get a decent print I have to set the text to bold. Small text prints especially poorly. I purchased the small heat shrink labels and upon printing they jammed in the printer. Removing the jam caused the entire label canister to empty. The cutter mechanism is constantly coming loose. SOP before printing is to turn the unit over, open the label access door and push down on the edge of the cutter until is 'snicks' into place. If you don't do this the software complains that there is no cutter mechanism installed. You need to be careful turning it over and putting it down on the desk or work surface; too hard and the cutter gets knocked out of place. The software is more convenient than using the touch screen, something I almost never use because frankly it is a PITA to use. The software is unfortunately quite buggy. Just today while printing 26 labels for a CAT6 ID job the app crashed (unhandled exception); lost my label changes, had to start over again. One last complaint about the labels proper. I'm using the vinyl labels to identify rack mounted components in our machine room. The labels refuse to stick to the rack. I thought perhaps it is a texture issue but the labels don't stick well to the smooth surfaces available on the rack mounted equipment. I've resorted to putting 3M clear packing tape over the label to keep it from falling off.If Dymo has a vinyl label with a more aggressive adhesive I'd love to hear about it, otherwise I'll keep doing the ugly a** job of putting clear tape over the label.Honestly, it is far too late to send this expensive and annoying abomination back and I'm far too ethical to sell it to somebody else. I'd give it away but I don't want to lose a colleague or a friend.Biggest waste of cash in my professional career. I'd be better off buying a box of Hellemann-Tyton laser labels and a throw away laser printer.Don't waste your money or your time.My first impression... I bought it primarily for the ability to do 2” labeling and to label network wire. It is heavy, it’s not one of those “can I borrow your label maker”, it will lay at an angle to view, but the best view is directly from above when using. I do like the computer connection and you can print from the computer, the templates and graphics and the ability to import graphics is nice. My wish list would be the ability to export the label designs from the computer to the label maker, this will make it a stand alone so you won’t have to bring a computer onsite. No smaller labels come with it and expect the refills to be pricey. So far the cable wrap labels look very good and prints rather quickly. The biggest frustration is getting the labels from the backing for the laminated cable wrap. It is very frustrating. Try and remove the outside cutout first, that seems to work better. As for the cost, it could be $100 cheaper, although I haven’t used all of the features yet... it’s still feels a little pricey.... but it can do all sorts of labels.Bought this mostly to label wiring, which I have found is not done by most of the people that I end up following and cleaning up after. I have had it for over a year and it has made installations and repairs much easier. The good:Prints on Heat shrink tubing.Prints cord wraps.Has templates for electrical panels as well as network switches.QWERTY keyboard (previous units were laid out alphabetically & broken to fit the face of the unit).Color display with graphics & touch screen.Prints from 1/4" to 2" wide labels. The bad:Price (Really expensive, more than it should be).Tapes/cartridges expensive & quite fragile (insert them carefully).Ink smears easily when heat-shrink tubing is heated.Touch screen is not very accurate.Bottom line, if it weren't so heavy and so high priced (considering what they charge for the consumables) it would be a good unit.it can make a wide variety of kinds of labels, i'm mostly using it for cable labels and the print is iffy. not solid black like you get with regular labels. I don't know if that is a function of the type of label i'm using or if it is this particular label maker. I did make some regular labels with a white text on black background label and they came out perfectly. This label maker is a perfect fit for our company. We recently used this for a job where we needed self laminating wire wraps, and I must say this machine performed well above our expectations! Perfect clear print even when the battery got low. with that being said this thing has amazing battery life went all day on a single charge and still had 1/2 a batter left. We will be purchasing more of these units for our company in the near future and would highly recommend it to anyone in the need for an industrial label printer.Nice piece of equipment. Has everything you will need to make large labels. The kit doesn't come with any label material for smaller labels though so plan to order the supplies you might need if you're looking for the smaller labeling tasks. The software for the labeler is available online for free.First one I got sucked. It left a wave of unpainted ink throughout the label. I used 3 full rolls as I had to get labels made for important reasons. My first ever amazon exchange went well. Had a new unit a couple days later. New unit worked great.
