Sadly, this machine is not all that great. First, you must put the central bowl in the freezer for up to 24 hours before using. It just doesn't do the job. After following the directions explicitly, and 40 minutes of churning, the "ice cream" was only a thickened soup, requiring removal from the bowl to another container of your choice, and put in the freezer for hours. Just not great. A previous Oster model 4746, was much better. Go back to that design, as the new updated model does not represent progress at all.I purchased this ice cream maker about a year ago. It was my first time buying an ice cream maker, so I was pretty excited. Unfortunately, in the past year I have tried multiple different recipes, ranging from simple to complicated, and not once have I been satisfied with the result. It doesn't so much make ice cream as it does a cold liquid. Even when I promptly freeze the "ice cream" afterwards, I always end up with chunky, gritty results full of ice crystals. I guess this is what I get for choosing the cheapest option.I had a slightly used ice creamer maker that I lost parts to when I moved. I am very happy with the new one. Oster makes some well made products. Delivery was much quicker than I expected. It's was an easy purchase and the price was rightYou can Only make one batch of ice cream with my old one that I put ice around the cylinder i could make more.NiceWow. Something I like. Easy to use. Just make sure the mixture has chilled before you add it in. All tastes great.Gave this as a gift for my daughter's 50th birthday and she was very pleased. Most of all, she wanted the color to be black, thanks to you and Oster, her wish was fulfilled, thanks...It's great for a cheap ice cream maker. I have made multiple batches of ice cream and they have come out great.
