I needed to replace my old DCE33, which finally quit cooling enough to make ice after possibly 38 yrs of service. This unit looks more refined, and makes 24 cubes/cycle vs. 8 for the old unit. It's also quieter than the old unit, but it does make some sounds when running and pumping, and when dropping ice.I put the unit into service the evening I received it, and it was full of ice by the next morning. The unit makes the same crystal-clear semi-conical ice as did the DCE33. An absolute must for gin and tonic! The unit is covered in gleaming stainless steel, which looks pretty and 'commercial', although I would have been happy with a painted finish.I'm counting on the Scotsman name to insure the availability of replacement parts, as required, to keep this unit in service as long as the old DCE33. This was a concern of mine when looking at some cheaper, foreign-made units.
