I got this because the price of microwave popcorn is crazy expensive and too salty. I love popcorn. I mean LOVE it!! I can make popcorn and sit and watch a movie and not care what I am watching and can't hear a darn thing over the crunch of the popcorn in my head and I don't care, I friggin' love popcorn. With that being said, I wanted something that made a fair amount of popcorn that was enough for my piggy self to eat, that I could make and the clean up would be easy and this is it! 2 tablespoons of melted salted butter, 1/4 cup of unpopped corn, about 3-4 minutes in my microwave and as I type this I am in fat girl popcorn heaven! You can either dump it into a bowl or eat it out of the container it was popped in. It made enough for 2 people but because I like to hog the popcorn I'll say it made enough for 3: me, myself & I. Follow the directions and you shouldn't have a problem. There is a lot of unpopped corn at the bottom of the bowl but I'm not faulting the popper. It could be the corn is old, or maybe I didn't leave it in for long enough (this was my first time and I didnt want to burn the popcorn - burned popcorn stinks yuck). So would I buy this again, oh hell yeah most definitely! This is going to be coming out every Saturday night when I'm streaming movies and pretty much every other night I want popcorn!Have to say it is perfect for our home. We all like popcorn but prefer making it from plain kernels instead of the unforeseeable bags. It saves a lot in the long run and everyone has their own flavor preferences. This bowl is just right because it doesn't require use of the stove for a kettle (machines never lasted) and takes much less time too. The popper was definitely smaller than I anticipated it to be but it is perfect for that single serving. Husband keeps one at work and kids have their own for fast dorm room snacks. Had it been a slightly larger bowl I may have given it a higher rating, but for what it is it gets the job done. Basic plastic, but not indestructible. Replaced one already because of a large crack but it got a lot of use and having one of more in our kitchen just works for us.This is my first such popper, and I did a very dumb thing. I popped 2 batches of kernels I had in the cupboard (for apparently quite awhile) and they immediately burned up - smoke billowing, etc. I was certain it was the popper. Then I asked a farmer friend about what kind of popcorn kernels would work best - "any kind that are fresh"! They need moisture to pop!!! Who knew? Now I love it, use it every night. However I only use a scant 1/4 cup and a tiny drizzle of olive oil. Almost every kernel pops, big and fluffy. Seasoned with a little popcorn butter flavor and some 0 calorie butter spray, it is better than the packaged microwave brands. Unfortunately the popper still smells burnt, even after several soakings with baking soda, lemon, dish soap, etc. The popcorn itself doesn't taste burnt, so I can live with it. Will probably buy another one to replace the burnt one. I would recommend it. But use FRESH POPCORN!This thing pops popcorn very well. I bought it to avoid using the microwaveable bags of popcorn that are so unhealthy for you. I imagine I would have multiple problems if not for other reviewers and their tips. I use either coconut oil or melted butter in the popper and the result is delicious. I use about three tablespoons of kernels to a tablespoon of oil and add a few drops of water for a quick, hot pop. No mess, easy clean-up. Looking to go really healthy with a stove top popper next. You can use regular popcorn and save. Every microwave is different. You MUST experiment with the time for your microwave. 3 minutes and then an additional minute is NOT the same as 4 minutes continuous--more like 3-1/2 minutes. There may also be differences between the popcorn that you buy. The bottom gets HOT HOT HOT so don't let young kids use it. Always open AWAY from you or you will get a blast of hot steam (and away from the draft blowing toward you. ) The bottom gets a little soft on the inside surface and shows indentions of the corn after a few uses but it is harmless. It cleans easily. I just wipe most of it away with a paper towel then the clean-up is just a wipe with a soapy rag and rinse. The only disadvantage is that now you will eat more popcorn because it is so much easier to make. This little popcorn maker does its job very well. I did find that the (suggested) instructions, which are included, had to be greatly modified for my use. The amount of 1/4 cup of un-popped popcorn was too much. If you do choose to use that amount, when you open the popcorn maker, hold it over a large bowl, so the popcorn within the red cover can spill into the bowl. Also, popping time had to be reduced to two minutes. This could be caused by my having a compact microwave, which has a limited amount of space for heat circulation. Now that I've found the right adjustments for the popcorn maker, I am happy with it. It's just the right size for one and, for those of you who do not mind experimenting a bit, it should be fine.I was expecting one fair-sized popcorn maker, not two small ones. I've downsized my appetite to fit which is ok, but you have to watch it very carefully, and take it out of the microwave just before it finishes, otherwise you get a burnt taste. This product is much too small even for one person. I have used it once. I was not happy with the results. The popcorn kernels didn't all pop even though I used less than recommended. Many of the kernels looked almost burned giving much less time than recommended. I would have returned this popper if it was more expensive; not worth the hassle. It is just a ordinary container. The photo and the describtion confuges. This should not be on your siteThe write-up needs to say that the item is plastic and not glass. It is not an approved plastic for microwaves and therefore not safe to mix heat with plastic. We are not able to use the product for popcorn, but have found another use for it.Poor product quality. Its seems to be just normal plastic not microwave plastic. It's going to fall apart after 15-20 uses.very bad product. the materiel are third class. This is a worst product and not as per expectations. This product is 100% wastage of money.I would like to suggest, please don't purchase this product. This type of products washout the image of amazon.in
