I've been using this machine for almost 2 years to roast my coffee. It's used a minimum of twice a week and it's still going strong. I've had 3 other popcorn poppers that only lasted about a year each. I don't know if I got lucky or if the build lends itself to roasting coffee beans. I do use a filter on the bottom to keep the "chaff" from being sucked into the machine and clogging it. Maybe that helps. If you're wanting to start roasting your own beans and need a machine to do it, I highly recommend this one.
