Chelsea has been a peace maker and people pleaser since she was a small child, often at the cost of being true to her self . She tried to stand between her mother and alcoholic father and when he left she blamed herself and her mother for his problems. As a reporter doing an interview in college she meets and later marries an older man who is a rich and powerful U. S. Senator. She discovers that he and other members of his family are functioning alcoholics and though they talk about common good in public they care only for their own power. The nightmare only gets worse as he is tapped by his political party to run for president of the United States against a man who only wants the best for his country. This story deals with faith, politics, ethical and moral values and is both timely and an exciting read. The author has done a great job of bringing up most of the personal and social issues of today giving the reader a chance to make their own choices. A fascinating look at those in power and those that want to be and like everything else in life a story of history repeating itself. Good book and thought provoking. I highly recommend.
