It makes perfect sushi rolls but it’s hard to clean when rice and stuff get in between the little sticks, but yeahFirst time making sushi, bought this. Thought it was priced decent, and I was able to make decent sushi with it on my second try (we don’t talk about the first sushi night in this house but it wasn’t the rollers fault). Shout out to Alton Brown for the proper recipe on how to make the rice. But if you’re wanting to try making sushi at home, this worked well for me.After misplacing my old sushi roller bamboo mat, I had to order a new one. The new bamboo mat rolls sushi well. I am able to press a sushi roll comfortably using this mat. The only thing that I find strange is the smell. I washed the mat before using it, and it had a distinct smell. I couldn't recognize the smell. Maybe it's bamboo? The mat doesn't smell when it's dry. This bamboo mat has really made my sushi making experience a lot easier. The bamboo is rounder than I thought it would be but it doesnt affect the shape of the sushi at all. It is however a giant pain to clean. I would recommend covering the inside with plastic wrap so any stray sushi rice doesn't get stuck between the bamboo. My chef loves it! He was using a placemat before I purchased this for him. Now he rolls properly, and I get free samples of his handiwork. This has been a profitable and delicious investment on my part.Hell yeah im making so much sushi now. Also, saw a YouTube video on how to use this thing... pro-tip! you put a gallon bag over it to keep it non-stick and you don’t have to clean it ever.I was worried about buying this because I thought it didn't look like it would last long but it is very nice and works well. But I will say it won't last long if you are hard on it .I love sushi and this rolling mat is something I needed to make my own, instead of paying $45 for a small family tray at the local sushi restaurant.
